Coverage of cancellation costs:

Death, serious illness or serious accident injury of the insured, family members in the 1st or 2nd degree or household members of the insured.
Pregnancy diagnosed after the insurance has been taken out, which can be proven by a pregnancy certificate and/or complications during pregnancy.
Material damage (damage to belongings/tangible objects) of the insured's property, rented home or the company where he works, causing his presence to be urgently needed.
The unexpected availability of a rental home to the insured, but not earlier than 30 days before the start of the arrangement. Provided the insured has been registered as a home seeker for more than 10 weeks before making the reservation.
Purchase of a home, provided the delivery date/transfer is within 60 days before the start of the trip.
A medically necessary procedure that the insured, his partner or a child living with him may unexpectedly undergo.
Death within 14 days before the start of the trip of a pet, which is exclusively understood to mean a dog, cat, or horse, of the insured.
Forced relocation of the insured due to a medical necessity, renovation, or change of workplace.
Unemployment of the insured after a permanent employment contract, as a result of involuntary dismissal. Provided the dismissal date is no later than 1 month after the booked trip ends.
The acceptance by an unemployed insured of a job of at least 20 hours per week, for a duration of at least ½ year or indefinite, which requires his presence during the arrangement.
Unexpected call-up of the insured after a final exam for a resit that cannot be taken at any other time than during the arrangement.
An external event, such as an accident, theft, and fire within 30 days before the start of the arrangement, causing the insured’s private vehicle intended for travel to break down and not be repairable in time.
Definitive breakdown of the insured's marriage, for which a divorce procedure has been initiated. The definitive breakdown of the marriage is equated with the dissolution of a notarial cohabitation agreement.
The unexpected possibility to pick up an adopted child, provided the adoption has been established through the mediation of an official permit holder in the Netherlands.

UNUSED DAYS OF STAY:

Termination of the arrangement due to an uncertain event as mentioned above (illness, accident or death), as well as due to serious damage to the rented accommodation which makes its use no longer possible. The maximum compensation is 40 days.
Unforeseen hospitalization (at least 1 overnight stay) of the insured, which makes termination impossible, whereby all days of hospitalization during the rental period count as unused days of stay. This coverage applies only to the hospitalized insured and his co-insured family members or 1 co-traveling insured. The maximum compensation is 40 days.
The maximum compensation for all insured parties together is at most the compensation for 4 families, divided among all insured parties in proportion to each one’s share in the insured amount.

EXCLUSIONS:

Related to illness, condition or abnormality that existed or caused complaints in the insured, his household members or family members in 1st or 2nd degree during the 3 months before the insurance start date.

If no cancellation insurance has been taken out or for reasons not related to the above-mentioned events, the following rules apply: If the recreational user cancels the agreement before the start date, he owes a fixed compensation. This does not apply if the reason for cancellation is a price increase made within three months after concluding the agreement, except for price changes resulting from taxes, levies, or other charges that also affect the recreational user. The compensation amounts to:

for cancellation up to three months before the start date 15% of the agreed price;
for cancellation up to two months before the start date 50% of the agreed price;
for cancellation up to one month before the start date 75% of the agreed price;
for cancellation within one month before the start date 90% of the agreed price;
for cancellation on the day of the start date 100% of the agreed price;

The compensation will be refunded proportionally after deducting administration costs if the place is reserved by a third party for the same period or part thereof and no other places are available during that period.
